Challenges they faced

What was holding the business back when they came to us.

One flat broadcast domain across eleven buildings; a single loop took down the campus.
No documentation of the physical plant — copper runs of unknown length and age.
Wireless coverage from 60 consumer-grade access points on overlapping channels.
Examination halls needed guaranteed connectivity for online assessment windows.
Hostel traffic and academic traffic shared the same path and the same policy.
Cabling had to be pulled during a live academic term, without cancelling classes.

How we answered those challenges, in short.

A three-tier design: a redundant 10G fibre core in the administration block, per-building distribution switches on OM4 fibre, and PoE+ access switches feeding Wi-Fi 6 access points. Traffic is segmented by class — academic, hostel, administration, guest, IoT and CCTV — so a hostel torrent cannot touch an examination hall. A network management platform discovers the topology continuously, which is how the campus finally got its map.

How it was implemented

The phases the rollout actually ran through.

  1. Phase 2

    Fibre backbone

    OM4 fibre trenched and blown between the eleven buildings, with a second diverse path to the academic blocks that carry the examination halls.

  2. Phase 5

    Monitoring and handover

    Topology discovery, port-level alerting and a set of dashboards the institute’s own team drives, with escalation into CREADENT for anything structural.

  3. Phase 4

    Wireless roll-out

    214 Wi-Fi 6 access points mounted and tuned, with automatic channel and power planning from a single controller.

  4. Phase 3

    Segmentation and switching

    Distribution and access switches staged and configured off site, then swapped in building by building during evening windows.

  5. Phase 1

    Survey and predictive design

    Physical survey of every building plus a predictive RF model per floor, validated against live spectrum measurements in the two worst-served hostels.
